Parrot Harimau adalah anggota dalam genus Psittacella dari famili Psittaculidae. Ia mendapat nama bersempena dengan belang harimau di belakangnya. Genus ini diasaskan oleh Hermann Schlegel pada tahun 1871, dan terdiri dari spesies berikut,[1] all of which are endemic to the island of New Guinea.[2]
