クロハギ属（クロハギぞく、学名：Acanthurus）は、ニザダイ科の下位分類群の1つ[1]。多くの種はインド太平洋に分布するが、大西洋からもいくつかの種が知られる。熱帯海域のサンゴ礁に生息する種が多い[2]。尾柄には一対の鋭い骨質板がある。

分類と名称

1775年にスウェーデンの博物学者であるPeter Forsskålによってチョウチョウウオ属の亜属として提唱されたが、Peterは科から異なる分類群であることを認識していた。1856年、Eugène Anselme Sébastien Léon Desmarestはナンヨウハギを本属の基準種に指定したが、現在ナンヨウハギは独自の属に分類されている。そのため基準種はコウカイニジハギとされた[3]。サザナミハギ属は系統的には本属に含まれ、分類学的な安定が求められている[4][5]。学名は「Acanthus (棘)」と「urus (尾)」を組み合わせたもので、尾柄にある骨質板に由来する[6]。

特徴

体は側扁した円盤状で、頭部背側の輪郭は比較的垂直に近い。口は小さく下の方にあり、顎は突き出すことができる。顎には8 - 28個の歯があり、先端は平らで鋸歯状になっている。背鰭には11棘がある。尾柄には1対の骨質板がある[2]。最大種はクロハギで全長70 cm、最小種は Acanthurus polyzona で全長11 cm[7]。
