Sphaerodactylus adalah genus cecak dari Amerika^[2] yang dibedakan dari Gekkota lain dari ukurannya yang kecil, dari matanya yang bulat ketimbang vertikal, pupil mata, dan dengan setiap digit yang berakhir dalam satu bantalan atau sisik perekat bulat, dari mana namanya (Sphaero = bulat, dactylus = jari) berasal. Semua spesies di genus ini cukup kecil, namun dua spesies, S. ariasae dan S. parthenopion, sangat kecil, dan – dengan lubang moncong sekitar 16 cm (6,3 in) – adalah reptil terkecil di dunia.^[3]
