The Sport University Cologne (Deutsche Sporthochschule, Köln) was founded in 1947. In 1962, it was one of the founding members of Association Internationale des Écoles Supérieures d'Éducation Physique.[2] After the Sport University had changed its name to "German Sport University" in 1965 it gained the official status as a university in 1970.
