The Central District of Marand County (Persian: بخش مرکزی شهرستان مرند) is in East Azerbaijan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Marand.[3]

History

In 2019, Koshksaray Rural District and the city of Koshksaray were separated from the district in the establishment of Koshksaray District.[4]

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the district's population was 201,747 in 52,369 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 211,700 people in 61,505 households.[6] The 2016 census measured the population of the district as 217,093 inhabitants in 67,031 households.[2]
